Immigration officials detained a middle-aged American woman at the airport on Wednesday who was hiding a six-day-old child in her luggage
Jennifer Talbot, 43, was about to board a flight to the United States when, around 6:20 a.m., she was detained by staff at Nina Aquino International Airport Terminal 3. The girl alerted the security officers to her behaviour.
“The baby was hidden in her hand luggage, which she did not present to the immigration inspector during the formal inspection,
- reported to the Bureau of Immigration.
The American stated that she had an aunt’s child, but did not have any documents for the baby. According to the representative of the Bureau of Immigration, they have yet to be questioned by Talbot because she asked to speak to the U.S. ambassador first. Officials said they plan to accuse her of child trafficking.
The head of the Grifton Immigration Port Authority, Medina, said the child is safe. He is currently in the care of the Department of Social Welfare.
