Work on the racetrack began in March and should be completed within 12 months. The race is scheduled for mid-April 2020, but no dates have yet been announced.

The track with a length of 5.565 km with 23 turns was designed by German companies Tilke and Formula 1 Group. This will be a combination of public roads and part of the My Dinh sports complex in Nam Tu Lien area.

Vietnam will be the third country in Southeast Asia to take the F1 race after Malaysia and Singapore.
