Four Japanese students complained about a taxi driver who was ordered through the Grab mobile app. He demanded more money from them than the smartphone screen showed
The app estimated the trip from Nguyen Khang Street to Hang Duong Street at 192,000 VND (8 USD). But the driver – Vu Ngoc Quang – demanded 2 million (86 USD) from the Japanese.
After the dispute, the students paid what the driver asked for. Immediately after that, they went to the nearest police station with a complaint. On Wednesday, the guards tracked down Kuang and demanded a refund.
Grab Vietnam claimed that the driver had violated the code of conduct. Therefore, the contract with him was terminated.
Taxi drivers and rickshaws often deceive tourists in Vietnam. A recent similar incident occurred to a Japanese man.
